We look back to a very successful CITF-IRTG Summer School and Annual Meeting 2025 in Berlin this June!

It was a fantastic opportunity for our programms to come together — with faculty and PhD students from UBC, McGill University, and Freie Universität Berlin, joined by invited guests.

The event began with a Summer School featuring engaging tutorial lectures, team-building activities, and an intensive project exchange in small groups. Participants also showcased their research during poster sessions, insightful discussions and valuable feedback among peers and mentors.

Following the Summer School, the IRTG Annual Meeting offered a platform for project update talks, where PhD students presented their latest results and explored new ideas for collaboration. An EDI session focusing on unconscious bias encouraged reflection and open dialogue among doctoral students.

Outside of the formal program, participants enjoyed a joint BBQ evening, providing a relaxed space for further discussion and networking. Over the weekend, the group embarked on a sightseeing tour through Potsdam, including a Castle and Park Walk, and concluded the day with a get-together in a local Biergarten.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to making this week such a success — and we are already looking forward to reuniting for our next meeting in Vancouver in 2026!
